Those of you who are intimately connected to Molly may be aware of the Great Hot Dog Caper of 2012, however, it would seem that Molly once more makes sure the year will not end without another malicious act.
Earlier this week, Tarah was eagerly awaiting to be picked up by our neighbors as she wanted to go spend some time with our friends and giver them some of the pizzelles that she made with Grammy. So while waiting, pizzelles were being enjoyed by all. It was at this time that our friend's daughter came over to get Tarah.
Molly goes into a frenzy when we have company and after doing her share of barking at the guest and running around the living room and dining room like a crazed maniac, what happened next was unbelievable. In one stitch in time, Tarah had a full pizzelle in her hand and in the very next movement, Molly had that full pizzelle in her mouth. You see Molly uses strategy to gain that which she craves and in this case the disruption and activity of a visitor became the catalyst that she needed.
I am happy to report however that after a small chase and cornering by Mommy and Daddy, Molly relinquished the stolen goods intact and without further incident and we have once again protected her precious and sensitive belly from the harms of human foods.
Thus as the close of the year approaches, this story will go down in Molly lore as The Great Pizzelle Plunder of 2013.

Molly Prepares for Halloween
With Halloween fast approaching, it was time to do that thing that all parents have to do with their children; and with Molly it is no different. It is time to pick out this year's Halloween costume. Now this is a very tedious process especially after the Great Santa Suit Disaster of 2011. However, we were fortunate that Molly has begun to accept her outfits as she did with her dress. So this should not be too bad, right?
The choice was clear. Molly would be a witch this year, which on many levels is a wise choice..haha.
So the outfit fits better and Molly is much more tolerant with the way the costume goes onto the body. What she does not like, and quite honestly I have yet to meet a dog who does, is the hat that goes with the costume.
So this year at Halloween, there will be one more witch in the household here. A beautiful, furry, loving witch...named Molly.

Molly Visits the Bark Park
Every once in a while (a GREAT while) I have a great idea. Today I decided that we should take Molly to the new Bark Park that recently opened at the community park. She really enjoyed the entire experience which started out as a walk along the walking trail en route to the doggie play area.
What a great thing for the county to do by putting in the dog park so that dogs can go somewhere to run free. This really helps folks like us because we cannot have enclosed areas at our home where we can do this with the fur-babies. And now to bring this blog to a close, here is a small video clip of Molly wandering around leash-free with the other dogs. See ya next time!
We have never had her in an interactive situation with other dogs other than meeting neighbor dogs around the complex so this was a very unique experience not only for Molly, but for mommy and daddy as well. There were about 10 or so other dogs there and the park is split into two fenced areas; one for small dogs and one for large dogs.
I had a great moment today because I met another Miniature Schnauzer breed. He is a rescue whose mommy saved him from an abusive situation. She thinks he is mixed with Jack Russell but I did not see Jack in him. As you can see from the picture, he has the same coloring of Molly. Bonus, I think he wanted to come home with us when we left. But that will be our secret.

Molly Has A Boyfriend
There is that time in every Daddy's life when he knows his
girls will meet someone. Well, this is true of our Dog-ter as well.
Enter Poncho; a mix breed of Dachshund and Jack Russell
Terrier. He is OK, I guess. He seems nice, very interested in Molly. Problem is
he has no job and no hopes and dreams. All he does is run around and stare at
the sky and my Molly. I mean seriously, dude...get a job or something.
Now, Molly is very smitten over Poncho. Every time Poncho is
outside with his parents, the two must get together and play. It is to the
point now that if we walk by their house and Poncho is not outside, Molly
whimpers and cries the whole way passing the yard. That is one thing about
Molly, smart as a whip, never forgets anything.
One of the benefits that Poncho has over her is that he is
hardly ever on a leash. Crazy as this sounds, he must smell her coming because
if he is not leashed he comes running down the street to meet her. Then they go
at it having a blast. It's funny because you know how dogs have to smell each
other, right? Well, Molly has to constantly check out Poncho but so help her
god if Poncho tries to check her out. Molly is not too much into the checking
me out thing. The good news, when we get to have a play date with Poncho, Molly
is definitely tired out and therefore we always hope for an evening play date
on her last walk of the night and that usually puts her out.
So, I suppose as long as he does not hurt her, I will be OK
with Poncho. Basically the same rules apply that apply to my daughters...treat
them right or bleed...badly.... This must be what they call...Puppy Love!

Eat the Worm...
This is not a drinking story. I just want to clarify that in case by the sign of the title, you assumed that we allow Molly to drink Tequila. Although some days, I think that we need some tequila dealing with our little girl.
In the Spring months, especially with all the rain that we have this past Spring, walking Molly is a chore beings that she feels so compelled to stop every 2-3 inches to dig up worms and eat them. What is it about this beautiful dog that she feels that she has to have such a disgusting habit?
Her breed of course has a history as a working dog running vermin and varmints out of the barns and stables, so I assume that this triggers some of this behavior. We see this a lot during walks, for example she has a knack of coming back to the house and checking every inch of the base of the house on the way back to the front door. I think we are safe from vermin.
How dare the worms hang out anyway waiting to be eaten! And seriously, if I fished more I could use this habit of hers to my advantage...hmmm.

Pretty in Pink
So you have, no doubt, seen in the pictures so far that Molly's color is pink. Now I should point out that Mommy has decided that Molly's color is pink. Dogs are color blind.
Is there a such thing as going over-board on colors and designs and even garments for your pet? I often wonder about this as Mommy continually builds wardrobe and accessories for Molly...as much in pink as possible. Let's take an inventory so far:
Molly has always had pink harnesses. I say it that way (always) because as just under 2 years old, this pup has chewed through 2 harnesses so far. Her current harness is a pink leopard pattern (my niece is so proud) and is rugged...er...because Daddy bought this one. The latter one is holding up pretty good.
Molly has a pink leash. Molly's pink leash has a pink bone attached to it with a pink ring that holds pink poopy pouches.
By the way, if the weather is inclement, Molly has a pink ski vest that will protect her from the rain or snow and keeps her belly warm in the winter. We did try tiny infant pink socks to protect her feet but she was not having any part of that.
Finally, I think, Molly has a sexy pink dress that says, "Maneater: Watch Out Boys She'll Chew You Up!"

Meet the Duke, Pilgrim!
Molly's first Christmas season was surely a busy one. Besides being dressed up as Molly Claus, against her will, she attended her first Family Reunion. Now, at the reunion was my Niece's dog, Duke. Duke is a Jack Russel/Pug mix breed and has the energy of a kid on a constant candy rush. So we took our chances (because Daddy was real worried about this) and put these two cousins together.
As it turned out, they were inseparable. They played every minute they were awake and I mean sort of rough. But apparently, my Molly likes it that way. They would run around the house end to end wrestling, playing and just loving each others company. It was cute. It was also a much needed break for Mommy because usually Mommy and Molly are inseparable. So Mommy was enjoying her "time off" and was very much appreciative of Duke keeping Molly otherwise occupied.
I tell you, it was so bad that Molly could not wait to awake the following morning and see Duke. They were staying with us for the week. Everywhere Duke went, Molly was in tow. They even had to go outside together and go potty together. Kind of creepy thinking about it. It was probably good for Duke too because he has a creepy attachment to his grandma; but this story is not about Duke so he can get his own blog.
It was a hectic and exciting Christmas holiday for Molly. So many people to meet and bark at and of course Duke. I don't think she forgot about Duke and she still thinks about him a lot. Maybe they will meet again someday but when that happens Duke should keep in mind that Molly is grown now, so...careful big guy!

Molly's First Christmas
As the Christmas holidays rolled upon us back in December of 2011, Molly was still a tiny little puppy. She was cute as well. And you know what happens to little cute puppies right? Mommy & Daddy buy embarrassing puppy clothes. This year was no different.
We took a ride to Koziar's Christmas Village in Pennsylvania with our good friends, Rick & Dana. Now after touring this amazing facility, it is common practice of the Sisterhood of the Wives that you must stop by the gift shop. And of course in this gift shop, there was a selection of Santa suits for doggies. Sharen had to have one and if there are any comments posted that state that I wanted one...well, the jury is still out and deliberating that one.
Ahem..back to the story. So we actually could not wait to get back home and try this outfit on Molly. Looking back and looking at the pictures, I think Molly felt that she could have waited longer. So when we returned home and had some fun and laughs dressing Molly up in the Santa suit. Though she looked very cute, she did not quite like it and naturally by the time we finished our photo session, she was chewing her way free from it.
In our next posting, we look back at more from Molly's first Christmas and her meeting with her "cousin". Stay tuned!

Molly Takes a Vacation
In my welcome post, I explained how Molly arrived here...against my opinion. In two days on Friday, we were scheduled to go to Gettysburg, PA for the weekend. Molly's sitter fell through and now what were we supposed to do? I spoke to the people at the hotel we were staying at and low and behold they had pet rooms and just moved us into one of them. Thank Goodness.
At this point, I was upset at my wife for not listening, upset at Molly because I was not thrilled that she was purchased and upset because our two chihuahuas could not stand the fact that Molly was here. The whole house was in turmoil. I need a vacation....
So off to Gettysburg we go. Just me, my lovely wife, HER dog and our daughter. I must admit that this doggie was growing on me. Seems that as soon as we filled up the van and rolled up Route 896, this pooch became more and more....something.
So because we had this puppy on vacation, we had to curtail what we did to accommodate the fact that we had to stay with her. We ate some meals in our hotel room, we ate some meals picnic style upon the battlefield and even once we ate real fast in a restaurant while she slept in the car (note - RELAX animal activists; it was 60 degrees and the sun was down on a beautiful October evening). When the girls went shopping I stayed outside on benches watching the dog and conversing with everyone who walked by because they were so beside themselves with this cute creature. Molly was the biggest attraction in Gettysburg that weekend.
Molly spent many hours in some shops hidden in Mommy's jacket and went out on ghost hunts with us. She had a busy weekend for a 12 week old puppy. Of course we took pictures, we take lots of pictures of Molly. Here is one for you taken behind Devil's Den. She takes a great picture.
So it was a real good weekend, we had fun even though we had to curtail our planning around Molly. In fact, we found out over the next two years that the world as we know it does, in fact, revolve around Molly. But something really fantastic happened that weekend in Gettysburg....I fell in love with Molly.

Who is Molly?
Greetings Visitors and welcome to The Molly Chronicles. This blog starts as a result of a popular series of posts on Facebook, all of which will be moved here. But if you are new and wondering why you are here and just who is Molly, then this is the appropriate way to start.
Molly is a mixed breed puppy. Part Maltese, part Miniature Schnauzer and all cute. Of course, being that I am her daddy, I may have a biased opinion, but you be the judge. Let's begin our journey with a short story about how Molly came to be our pet.
While working one Wednesday evening, my wife calls me and tells me she is with her girlfriend at the pet store. "Can I buy a puppy", she asks. I tell her no. " I am sorry, babe, but we cannot afford it and I thought we discussed that after our beloved Joey died, we were not getting anymore dogs..."
I went on to tell her that our other two dogs, both of which were Chihuahuas, were not going to appreciate the addition of another dog. Well, I promised a short story so I will tie this up for you. I come home from the client's house and there is my loving, obedient wife...with a new puppy on her lap. Apropos of nothing at all, it should be noted that my wife hears opposites.
Thus begins the journey of Molly in her new home. Now the very first Chronicle, which is next, deals with Molly's fist week. Stay tuned.....
